Like its namesake, the Scorpion Servo Drive delivers unmatched power, speed, and control in a small, compact size. Serving industries from energy to aerospace, our line of motor control systems are the industry benchmark for performance under conditions that would destroy other motor controllers. ESI motion has engineered unparalleled power density with a servo drive that is small enough to fit in your pocket.
The Power of a Servo Drive
A servo motor and a servo drive work in tandem in a high-performance motor control system. A servo motor is the work horse, while the servo drive is the brain that tells the motor what to do at lightning speed. Servo drives are responsible for motion control by precisely calculating the trajectory, velocity, position, and torque needed and then send those command signals to the motor. ESI Motion’s servo drives are also designed with a built-in feedback and adjustment mechanism that can adjust the output power to match what is needed for the operation with unsurpassed reliability in the harshest conditions.
The Scorpion Servo Drive
The dynamic power of the Scorpion is one of the innovative solutions in our highly capable servo drive line, operating at 610V. The Scorpion servo drive module is strategically packaged in a potted plastic case, allowing for extreme durability in a compact size that meets even the most stringent space efficiency needs while providing enormous power density. Built within a frame measuring only 2.6” D x 4.0” W x 1.8” H and weighing just 1 lb (453 g), the Scorpion is capable of output power reaching 24,000 kilowatts and electrical speed up to 75,000 RPM, and it operates in temperatures from -40ºC to 71ºC. (Extended Temp Option: -55ºC to 100ºC)
Many industries rely on the power of the Scorpion because it can perform in any environment. It meets the demands of military defense and energy applications where power and reliability are mission-critical. Aerospace and space systems count on the Scorpion to meet their rigorous performance requirements regarding extreme temperatures and pressure. And if you are in an industry where space is often confined, the Scorpion will fit in those small spaces while still providing powerful electrical amplification and control.
