Happy World Space Week 2024 from ESI Motion!
Space Week 2024, celebrated from October 4 to October 10, is an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition. Last year, WSW was celebrated in over 83 nations!
Both the Start and End Dates have significant to the space community:
- October 4th: Launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1, thus opening the way for space exploration (1957).
- October 10th: The signing of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies (1967).
For 2024, the chosen theme is “Space & Climate Change.” This theme celebrates the transformative impact of space technology in our ongoing battle against climate change, emphasizing the proactive role space exploration plays in enhancing our understanding and management of Earth’s climate.
Events around the world include educational programs, exhibitions, and activities that inspire people to look beyond Earth and think about humanity's future in space. Space Week 2024 not only commemorates past achievements but also looks forward to exciting missions, from lunar exploration to Mars colonization.
